2009 Bionicle sets revealed!

Here's a link to an image hosting site that should be safe from Lego's watchdogs...

My thoughts? HECK YES! Tan makes a comeback (Next best thing to brown), new hand pieces show up, and spiky Zamor promise to be good for many interesting uses.

I must say, these are very cool. :)

the zamors and inika/piraka bodies will never die, eh?

how do you know they aren't fake? they look kinda unrealistic, the zamors won't even stay in the launcher in some pics, they are held upside-down!

and the t-rex is a combiner set, but if you look at the sets that combine into it one is the same thing as the t-rex, with a different color rider and face.

I think they're fake, but if they aren't, they're pretty cool, especially the white one.

Anonymous #1: Thanks, but I’m pretty sure it's Malum.

Anonymous #6: The names match those on the 09 sets list, and the info beneath each picture looks valid as the leaked 08 sets did. I'd imagine the Zamor's spikes probably help them stay in the launcher.

Anonymous #7: Rather doubtful that Fero & Skirmix is a combiner. I don’t see many pieces in common with the Glatorians, save for the Kalmah feet on Flamehead there. Besides, they wouldn’t bill it as a separate set if that was the case.

I am anonomous no. 6 and 7. I think you're right about the spikes. I still think they would invent a new launcher this year.

look at the position of the spikes tho

theyre all over the place

Nice find! The 09 sets look pretty good, and the return to tan is great! Some of the new pieces look good, but I'm hoping they come out with a new launcher for those spiky balls, not just the same old zamor launcher.
Again, nice find, and thanks for these pics! They're much better than all the ones I've seen so far.

This is Regitnui, And those new 'hand' pieces look horrible, more like 2-buck action figures you buy in flea markets then real bionicle. I hope and pray those aren't final... Although the weapons (some) look cool. :)

I don't believe these are real. They wouldn't use the same weapons 2 years in a row.

They are fake. The first one has something that looks like Toa Hordika Vakama's Blazer Claw. Zamor Spheres are from 2006. Who would think that they are real?

Anonymous said...

Then how do you explain the pieces that HAVE NEVER EXISTED and would for the most part need to be fully custom-molded? Lot of work for a fake.

Apologies for bringing 4chan down on you, Arpy.

i don't think you need to be afraid of lego's watchdogs. a shop website already posted the boxes images.

actually, these are prototypes, and they've been on other websites. I don't think they'll keep the Zamor launchers. that would be old. BUT THEY HAVE HANDS!!

Okay, well, I have to say, I LOVE these sets. The people on Eurobricks have been discussing everything. It appears that the Matoran heads are just Av-toran heads, just turned up, and the heads are similar on the Glatorins. The weapons are nice, and I love the hands. I'm also waiting to learn a bit more about these "life counters" that are on the sets. Interesting...

Glatorians

Glatorian are fighters, specifically fighters who battle on behalf of a village in return for food, shelter, equipment and other rewards. When two villages have a dispute, each sends a Glatorian to fight for them in an arena. The winning Glatorian earns for his villages the rights to whatever the dispute was about. For example, if Iconox and Tesara both claim an oasis, Gresh and Strakk might be sent to battle each other in a match. If Gresh won, Tesara would have ownership of that oasis. This system is designed to prevent wars from breaking out between the villages.

The beings who make up the Glatorian class are a separate species from the Agori. Many of them are veterans of past wars, and so have a great deal of knowledge about tactics and skills. A good Glatorian is equally as talented with a sword or axe as he or she is with a Thornax launcher. Despite that, Glatorian are almost always training, trying to learn new moves for use in the arena.

Of course, Glatorian do other things besides battle in the arena. They protect their villages in the event of attacks by bone hunters or desert creatures, sometimes act as escorts for trade caravans, and even (if they are really well paid), go out in search of water or other resources. Some Glatorian have turned away from the system and live in the wastelands as bandits – others have been exiled there for crimes in the arena.

While Glatorian are allowed to work for any village they choose, most “adopt” a village and stay there for most of their lives. Villages also have the right to decide what fights they will send which Glatorian to do, or if they want to keep a Glatorian at all. A fighter who loses too many battles may be reduced to only fighting to settle minor, unimportant disputes or may be released by his village.

While the world of Glatorian is a dangerous one, there are certain rules they are expected to follow in the arena. Striking a foe who has already conceded, or attacking an opponent after you have conceded, are both considered serious violations. Killing an opponent who has already given up is grounds for exile. Accepting a bribe from another village to lose a fight can also lead to exile in the wasteland.
